Itinerary

Day 1Arrive Ahmedabad

After you arrive in Ahmedabad, freshen up and get ready for sightseeing. The Sabarmati River divides Ahmedabad into two distinct parts. On the east side, is the main walled city and various monuments in the city as well. The sightseeing at first allows you to visit the famous Mosque of Siddi Saiyad. This mosque was the last poignant piece of architecture in the Sultanate period. We then visit Hutheesing Jain Temple, the beautiful temple built in 1848 by one of the influential families of Ahmedabad, which is close to Delhi Darwaza on the road to Shahibaug. The visit then follows Dada Hari ni Vav also known as Bai Harir ni Vav. The vav marks an important transition to Indo- Islamic architecture of Gujarat defined by its use of elements from both Hindu and Islamic styles. Also visit Jama Masjid, this mosque was built during the reign of Sultan Ahmed Shah I and at this time it is believed to have been the largest mosque in the sub-continent. All in all, our Gujarat education tour has it all!

Day 2Ahmedabad

The morning after breakfast is when you check out of the hotel and take a sightseeing tour of western part of Sabarmati River but before that visit The Calico Museum. This is one of the best textile museums in the world. After this, we all proceed to a restaurant for lunch en route. In afternoon we will cover the western part of Sabarmati River. We will then visit to Gandhi Ashram. In 1917, Mahatma Gandhi established the Satyagraha Ashram along the Sabarmati River. He chose a barren location so that he could experiment with farming, livestock and other ideas. Hridaya Kunj, the simple cottage where he lived, is now a national monument and preserved as it was during the Mahatma’s life-time. In the evening visit, Sarkhej Roza which is about 8 kilometers away from the city, Sarkhej Roza houses one of the most beautiful complexes in Gujarat. We then have dinner and move to Diu. This could be your most anticipated Gujarat college trip and truly, what a wow!!

Note: The Calico Museum remain closed on Wednesday

Day 3Diu

We arrive in Diu and check-in at hotel. Diu, is a stupendous place when it comes t enjoying complete solace and the beauty of the beaches. The best part- the myriad fishing communities that inherent this place. The Portuguese effects can be observed in the buildings, churches and the narrow winding streets that converge at piazzas. Fishing villages and the super amazing people make Diu your place to be. In evening time enjoy the Nagoa beach where coastline is enhanced by hoka trees. The hoka is a palm tree native to Mozambique that arrived with Portuguese.

Day 4Sasan Gir

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of Diu. We will first visit Diu Fort. This is the town’s central landmark built by Portuguese. The Panikota Forte do Mar, which stands unperturbed in the middle of the sea, is also visible. After fort proceed to Diu Museum. Here St Thomas Church has been converted into a museum. In the end visit three-storied exterior decorated with shell like motifs St. Paul’s Church. This early-17th century Gothic church is dedicated to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. After having lunch in the city restaurant proceed to Sasan Gir en-route stopping at Somnath Temple of Lord Shiva. Check-in into Hotel in Gir. In evening relax at resort to wake up early in the next morning.

Sasan Gir is popularly known as the “Gateway to Gir National Park”. In 1965 government set up the sanctuary across 1,153 sq km to protect the Asiatic lion (Panthera leo persica) and this National Park is considered to be one of the most important protected areas in Asia due to its supported species. In addition to Asiatic Lions, you can spot Jungle cat, hyena, jackal and leopards. The forest has about 300 species of birds including King Vulture, Crested serpent eagle, Great horned Owl, Bush quail, woodpecker and hornbill. This dry teak forest is also home to more than 507 plant species. Later have dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5Sasan Gir

Explore the reserve on early-morning. Later enjoy the serenity of the environment and day free for team building activities and lots of fun. Evening is free for leisure and shopping. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6Porbandar

After breakfast, proceed for to Porbandar (the birth place Gandhiji). In Porbandar city, we will visit Kirti Mandir the three story house where Gandhiji was born in 1869. Next to his residence is the 24-m high Kirti Mandir with 79 lamps on is peak – one for each year of Gandhiji life. Evening is free for shopping and leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7Porbandar

In the morning after breakfast check out from the hotel and drive down to Ahmedabad railway station to board your train back home.
