  • Outskirts of Guwahati is Pabitora wildlife sanctuary which can be visited when it doesn’t rain heavily.

Note- Vigilance is required at night. 

Meghalaya

Only becomes more beautiful during the Monsoons!

  • Shillong Peak, Lady Hydari Park, and Ward Lake, Elephant Falls, Cherrapunjee, Seven Sister Falls, Mawllyngnong (Asia’s cleanest village), Laitlum, Living Root Bridges, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsyram, are the places that can be visited.
  • Umiam Lake (Barapani) on the way from Guwahati to Shillong by road is a must-visit.

Note- The shops, eateries, and all other similar places get closed in Meghalaya after dark, so, better to head back to the hotel at this time. This is common in many Northeastern places.

Arunachal Pradesh
  • Itanagar (capital city) can be visited for its scenic beauty.
  • Ziro-A world heritage site that can be visited during June for its stunning beauty and ever-lasting greenery.
  • Bhalukpong-another natural treasure of this state can be visited during June.
Mizoram

Places to visit during monsoons in Northeast India-

  • Aizawl (capital city)
  • Memorial of Chhingpui
  • Vantawang Falls
  • Champhai
  • Palak Lake

Note- The state can be visited during monsoons, but it won’t be that comfortable a trip.

Sikkim
  • Gangtok is a very beautiful city and a must-visit hill station.
  • Tsomgo Lake/ Changu Lake- one of the highest lakes in India
  • Nathula Pass- one of the highest motorable passes in the world. It is really worth visiting.
  • Ravangla, Lachung, Pelling.
  • Monasteries like- Rumtek Monastery, Phodong Monastery.
  • Zuluk- a less visited place; a quaint Sikkimese village best visited to enjoy surreal views of Mt Kanchenjunga.
  • Namgyal Institue of Tibetology.
